To coincide with ‘Good Money Week’ leading fund research and ratings group RSMR is hosting an adviser seminar entitled ‘Responsible investing – how you can make a difference’. It will be held on Wednesday 2nd November at the Leeds Mercure Parkway Hotel, Otley Road Leeds and is free for all advisers.
The CPD event will enable advisers to hear from leading fund groups, EdenTree, Rathbones and Kames Capital. Each fund group will discuss their ethical investment process providing case studies showing the benefits of an SRI themed approach to portfolios.
Practical guidance will also be provided by Richard Essex from Grayside Financial who has over 20 years’ experience as an adviser and is passionate about protecting the environment we live in. Richard is author of ‘Invest, feel good and make a difference’ which provides essential reading for anyone interested in responsible investing whilst at the same time achieving a healthy monetary return.
A panel discussion will also include Stewart Smith SRI Portfolio Manager at RSMR plus Julia Dreblow from sriServices to provide practical help to advisers.
Geoff Mills, Director at RSMR said: “A growing number of investors are placing a priority on the impact companies and their products have on the environment and society more widely and advisers need to be prepared to respond to these trends.
‘’This seminar will provide advisers with real insight into Responsible Investing from an impressive line-up of speakers providing case studies to share with clients. Also, this year we have asked Richard Essex to provide some tips for advisers and share with us the way he has successfully implemented SRI strategies for his clients and the title of Richard’s book has been adopted to underline this point.
‘Good Money Week will be promoted nationally by the trade body UKSIF and this presents an opportunity for all advisers to ‘think again’ about the way they can adopt SRI strategies into their ongoing client meetings and expand their businesses whilst also protecting the environment and busting the myth that performance has to be sacrificed for principles.
Mills adds: ‘Finally, we will provide full details of our SRI themed portfolio for all attendees – RSMR’s way of ‘making a difference’ and saving advisers and planners hours in fund research and yet again demonstrating our continuing commitment to the success of UK advisers in an ever-changing sector.'
